Reviews of Alaska Airlines: Alaska Airlines Reservations. Air Travel.

Summary

Alaska Airlines is major airlines for Alaska and boarding regions and one of ten largest US carriers with major hubs in Seattle, Anchorage, Portland and Los Angeles. Together with Horizon Air (sister carrier), Alaska Airlines delivers passengers and cargos to over 80 destinations in Alaska, Canada and Mexico.

Check-in time

Passengers must check-in at least 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure of the flight regardless of destination and type of the flight (domestic\international). However, it is recommended to check-in 2 hours prior to departure. Alaska Airlines has a 30 minutes boarding rule.

Baggage allowance

Allowed checked baggage size and weight is equal for all Alaska Airlines flights regardless of destination. Passengers are allowed to carry 2 pieces of checked baggage of a maximum of 50 lbs each and not exceeding dimensions of 62 linear inches each. $25 fee is charged for overweight baggage between 51 and 70 lbs and $50 fee is charged for overweight baggage between 71 and 100 lbs. The same fees are charged for oversized baggage - $50 for 63-80 linear inches and $75 for 81-115 linear inches. Note that baggage over 100 lbs and over 115 linear inches will not be accepted and must be transported on cargo aircraft, or other means arranged by passenger. As well as other airlines, Alaska Airlines does not recommend to carry fragile and valuable items in checked baggage. Fragile items, jewelry, antiques, currencies, rather small electronic supplies and other things of the same kind must be either stored in carry-on beg, or transported with other means.
Allowed carry-on baggage size and weight is equal for all Alaska Airlines flights regardless of destination too. Passengers are allowed to take one carry-on beg of a maximum weight of 40 lbs and maximum dimensions of 51 linear inches. Besides of carry-on beg passengers are allowed to take one personal item, like laptop computer, briefcase, purse, overcoat, walking stick, crutches and so on.
If you are planning a connecting flight, where you will change airlines, you must consider baggage allowance of that airlines.

Infants under two years old that will not occupy a separate seat may travel for free on adult’s lap on domestic flights and must pay 10% of applicable adult fare on international flights (does not guarantees a separate seat). Infants traveling on a separate seat get a 50% discount from adult fare, but their seats must be equipped with child restraint belts.

A service fee of $30 (direct flights) and $60 (connecting flights) is charged for up to three travelers between 8 and 12 years old. The same fees are charged for up to three travelers between 13 and 17 years old, however this category of minors can travel as adults without paying an unaccompanied minors service fee, unless you claim it.
